Genuine Mullard Tube

Recording professionals and musicians are praising Genesis for its clean highs, warm mids, and tight bottom-end, features attributed in part to the Mullard 12AT7 tube. Mullard vacuum tubes are famous for producing a smooth rich tone and silky high end. The Mullard tube used in the Genesis is sourced directly from the UK and is marked CV4024. These are "new old stock" originally made for the Royal Air Force and NOT the Russian copy often passed off as a "real" Mullard tube. In addition MXL burns in each Mullard tube for 48 hours prior to shipment, ensuring flawless performance from every Genesis mic.

“When MXL asked me try their new flagship “Genesis” microphone, I didn’t hesitate in taking up their offer. I have used numerous MXL mics over the years, and have always had excellent results. Initially, I tried the Genesis as a room mic on a grand piano, and the results were just amazing. From the full bottom end to sparkling highs, it gave me the natural sound I wanted, with next to no EQ required. With female vocals it was simply stunning. There is something about the warmth and intimacy of this microphone that I have previously only been able to capture with microphones costing much more. What truly surprised me though, was when I tried it on the outside of a kick drum where I previously used my FET 47. The FET 47 is enjoying a long vacation in my Mic Locker. The guys at MXL seem to be continually raising the bar for quality in affordable mics. With great products and amazing customer service, MXL are always high on my list of preferred equipment when I need to get the job done.

“The MXL Genesis is a microphone that just can’t be ignored. Not only does it sound amazing, but it looks good too. I even asked if I could have one to wear around my neck!”

“We recorded all of the vocals on the Pink Noise album with the MXL-V69. We loved the sound we got from it. We’ve had the Genesis in the studio for a while now, and it has a much fuller sound. The bottom end goes deeper and the vocals cut through the mix even more now. The next album (which we are recording now) will feature the Genesis so much that we may have to give it a credit on the album!”
