Jon-John Robinson is a 4x Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum record producer and songwriter. Keeping his finger on the pulse of Urban and Pop music for well over two decades, he has worked with such chart-topping artists as Diana Ross, TLC, 3LW, K-Ci & Jojo, and Gladys Knight.

Jon-John began studying piano at age eleven. Within a few years, he was learning about the ins and outs of music under Fred Perrin, songwriter and producer to stars like the Jackson 5 and Gloria Gaynor, most notably writing the latter's classic hit "I Will Survive." "He was my mentor," explains Jon-John, "teaching me things like how to create strong hooks and song structure. He pointed me in the right direction." Though initially attending college to study architecture, Jon-John ultimately left to pursue a career in music full-time.

Despite playing gigs and producing whenever he could, money was a constant struggle upon leaving school, so much so that at one point, Jon-John found himself living on the streets. He came to the conclusion that a lack of connections within the industry was his biggest hurdle preventing a successful career, and set out to fix this. It was shortly thereafter he ran across Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds at a popular L.A. restaurant. Determined to make an impression, Jon-John took advantage of the restaurant's open mic night by freestyling on stage in front of Babyface.

"I took the mic, did a little freestyle, and tried to make it do what it do. I guess it worked because Face said he liked what he heard and asked me to bring some of my demo tracks for him to hear. To make a long story short, instead of hip-hop beats, I brought songs. Next thing I know, they offered me a production deal, and the rest is history."

Jon-John's dynamic, ever-expanding discography is a testament to his talent, versatility, and determination. "Longevity continues to be my ultimate goal," he says, "as well as building up talent through my company, Box Car Entertainment."

"As long as I maintain high creative standards and stay true to my music, myself, and the artists I work with, I think I can continue to contribute to music's global influence and legacy."
